In the past two weeks we've been very hard at work fixing the issues that were discovered in the Beta release for Bolt 2. As such, this release is a recommended update for all of you who are already using Bolt 2.

We've also compiled a nice overview of What's new in Bolt 2, if you're curious about the major improvements that are on the horizon.

As for the most important fixes in this Beta update:

  • Path handling on Windows servers is much improved
  • We've streamlined the installation of extensions, works more smoothly now.
  • The Extensions website now allows users to add screenshots. See this example.
  • For a detailed overview of the changes, see our changelog.

Known issues in this release: If you have PHP 5.3 or PHP 5.4 with APC enabled, the installation of extensions might not work. PHP 5.3 and PHP 5.4 will work with APC disabled. PHP 5.5 works as expected, regardless of whether APC is enabled or not.

To install this version from scratch, follow the instructions on the updated installation page in the documentation, as can be found here: Installing Bolt. To upgrade an existing site, see Updating.

In the meantime we'll continue working on ironing out the last kinks, improving our documentation, and - last but not least - the new website for Bolt itself. Stay tuned!
