2 new milestones + monthly community meet-ups
Hi there Bolt Community ☕️
With stable release 4 out of the way, we're taking your favourite CMS further. Under the leadership of Bob, Bolt's creator, we have set two major development milestones over the next few months:
1. Make the Bolt Editor accessible
Unfortunately, most content management systems out there do not adhere to accessibility guidelines. According to the World Health Organisation, 15% of all people have some sort of disability. With this milestone, we aim to make the Bolt Editor easy to use for all content editors, especially those in our community with an impairment or disability.
To help us get started, one of our contributors, Derk, has made a list of issues of accessibility quick wins for the Bolt Editor.
2. Improve the developer experience
As a CMS, Bolt is built to be extensible and customisable by anyone with basic understanding of PHP and the Symfony framework. Over the next period of time, our task is to communicate that knowledge to the current and future developers in the community in two key areas:
- More documentation on creating and publishing extensions
- Expanding the Bolt tips with more how-to's and best practices on various subjects
Organising our work as a community
This is a shout out to our community to help us get there. We're are re-introducing our monthly online meet-ups starting 17 November 2020. Every Tuesday at 20:00 CET, Bob will host an online session where he'll answer questions and discuss anything Bolt-related.
